Bandsaw Box After Care
By Neil Wade
A minimum of 5 coats of oil have been applied to you new bandsaw box. The oil is absorbed deep into the wood and once dry brings out the natural beauty of the wood.
As a final stage two coats of paste wax are applied and hand buffed. The wax adds a soft glow and feel on the wood. The wax paste that I use (and only a personal preference is Liberon Wax Polish Black Bison).
Liberon wax Polish:
- Gives good resistance to finger and water marks
- Ideal for small surfaces
- Feeds, polishes and helps prevent wood drying out
- Highly lustrous and hard wearing
- Helps cover marks and scratches
- Endorsed by the Guild of Master Craftsmen
- Silicone Free
Cleaning and Wax Re-application
Wipe over with a cloth or duster and re-wax as required when the surface looks dull and tired. Do not wash with water.
Apply Wax Polish Black Bison Paste sparingly with a cloth (old T-Shirts work great). Allow to dry for 20 minutes, or until touch dry, and then buff with a clean cotton cloth or furniture brush. Repeat the operation on new or very dry wood as it may require two or more coats.
